Workshop – Postpartum Care

This week’s workshop was led by myself, Takisha. I started out excited because I love sharing our 4th Trimester Care kits with others. The event started off slow, but ended on a great note! I have to admit that I was a bit overwhelmed at some point because there was so much information to share and so many questions to answer. But, we got through it and I think I managed to not overwhelm the group with too much information. Although, I’m just realizing that we didn’t really get a chance to introduce ourselves, lol.

Anyway, this event was extremely special to me because we are gearing up to offer these workshops to others and it felt good to get over this hurdle of our first. Moving forward we will definitely spread them out instead of having so many things to make in one session, head on over to our INFOShops page to learn more.

Today, we talked about the word Postpartum and the precise meaning. We briefly discussed the postpartum period and touched on what the fourth trimester is. I think we may need to revisit all of this information moving forward.

I shared with the group what is in our 4th Trimester Care package and went through what is in everything.

We discussed our nourishing tea, healing salve, and energy bites. We were able to sample the tea and actually make the bites. We didn’t end up making the other 2, but I did walk some through making the salve. Hopefully, we will be able to make it another time.

17th – Postpartum Care* –https://www.facebook.com/events/2002336743386183/

Postpartum care focuses on the care of the parent after the birth of the child. There are great benefits in focusing on the 4th trimester. The 4th Trimester is a term describing the first 3 months of your baby’s life where establishing that initial breastfeeding relationship is the most crucial. While caring for your newborn, it can become difficult to care for yourself. Join Takisha Miller as she shows you how to make some of the items found in Families for Equity’s 4th Trimester Care kit that will help you push through those first 12 weeks. These items are simple enough to do on your own or to delegate to someone on your support team. Attendees will be able to go home with plenty of samples.
